Mabel Burr-1939 Register

I was wondering if anyone could find Mabel Burr on the 1939 register?

Mabel was born in 1895 and died in 1987. Mabel married Charles Burr (1883) in 1913 in Hitchin, Hertfordshire. I have found Charles on the 1939 register with 3 sealed records which I suspect are Charles and Mabel’s children as they had triplets in 1927.

The triplets were born in Southwark, London but are in Bedfordshire in 1939. I know that if her death hasn’t been linked to her birth then Mabel wouldn’t appear as the record would be sealed but it doesn’t appear that she’s with her husband so I wondered if anyone else could find her?

What was her exact DOB?

For info, her maiden name was Higgins

I don’t have her exact DOB yet as I’m waiting on the certificate to confirm. I suspect that her parents though were Robert Higgins and Mary Ann Major. I know that Robert and Mary Ann lost their eldest child Herbert Henry in 1914 at the age of 21. He is remembered on the Menin Gate at Ypres.

Her DOB should be on the death record.

My Great uncle has her birth as 8.3.1895 and he’s sending me the certificate to confirm it as he already has her death certificate.

Herbert was born 1893 in Abingdon district. Mabel was registered March qtr 1895

They appear to have split up, Charles was the only Burr on the 1936 - 1939 ER (at the same address as the 1939 register), and also in 1945. Could Mabel have been using a different name if she was living with someone else?

Try looking for her using just forename and DOB

Did this woman re-marry?

In 1948 to South?

It is possible. My great uncle has never been very open about his grandmother. I may need to have a difficult chat with him.

Thank you. So Mabel waited till Charles died as divorce was difficult and expensive. Their marriage though was over years before. I’m pleased at least one of them may have been happy.

??

Name: Edward H South
Death Age: 79
Birth Date: abt 1881
Registration Date: Mar 1960
Registration district: Luton
Inferred County: Bedfordshire
Volume: 4a
Page: 141

No sign of Mabel South dying in 1987 - as your relative has the cert, ask for full info

It would have been helpful if you'd said that you knew the marriage had broken down

This thread has made me feel old...........Mabel is four generations removed from you, and my father was born two months before she was!
