Name variables : Eve Lillian DAVIS, Eva Lillian DAVIS, Eva DAVIS, Eve DAVIS

Hi, I am trying to find information about my birth Grandmother, Eva Lilian DAVIS, born in Bletchingly, Surrey in 1920 - her Mothers name was Emily Martha DAVIS, no fathers name was recorded.

I believe that Eva was adopted, but not formally/legally, so she kept her surname throughout her life - her adopted parents surname was POND - the POND's lived in Ealing, London between 1928 and 1966 - various addresses, but for the most part at 23 Arlington Road, West Ealing.

As far as I can see Eva never married, however, she did have several children (up to 7) of which the majority were adopted at birth to different families - one of these children was my Mother, who was born in 1940 - she was the second child of Eva's to be adopted - her first adopted child was Barbara DAVIS, born in 1938 and later Linda DAVIS, born in 1948 - there are several other potential children that I am still waiting to confirm.

If anyone is related to Eva Lilian DAVIS, or her adopted family the PONDS and has any information/details I would be really grateful if you could contact me.

If anyone knew Eva in later life, I believe she may have lived in the Hastings, Sussex area and lived quite a long life, again I would love to know more about her.

Or if anyone believes they may be one of Eva's adopted children, and therefore half blood siblings of my Mum, please contact me so that we can exchange information

Many thanks to Shirley~I,m getting the hang of it, ArgyllGran, Mel Fairy Godmother and ErikaH for taking the time to respond to my message regarding my Birth Grandmother, Eva Lilian DAVIS.

The details in your replies do indeed relate to my Grandmother, and your help is really appreciated - there is always a chance that I have missed something, so it is brilliant to have another set[s] of eyes checking the records - thank you so much.

I do already have a number of documents regarding Eva, including her birth certificate and details of her birth mother, her death and other residential information.

I suppose what I am really in hope of, is contact from somebody who is related or knew Eva, and has some personal knowledge of either her early or later life, I guess the kind of details that are not documented. It is probably a hopeless wish, but you never know there is always that small chance.

Regarding the PONDS, because this thread was directed at Eva only, I posted a separate search message for them in more detail - however reading all of the responses to both threads, I seem to have created a bit of confusion - so sorry about that.

Referring back to the 1939 register, it is possible that she is one of the 'closed' records

Recognising that this post is a couple of years old, I just wanted to acknowledge that I have seen the post and will PM you Trexxy. If others find this later my mother is likely Trexxy's Mother's 1/2 sibling. Also interested in making contact with others.
