Thanks to everyone that has posted info on 'Ekins'. My research leads me to think that Thomas Ekins c 1740 was possibly born in Wymington , Beds and that his parents were John Ekins & Mary {possibly nee Clarke}. I have a record of a Thomas Ekins, Baptised 25th December 1740 at Wymington, parents John Ekins & Mary. I have a record for a William Ekins, Baptised 27th August 1738 at Wymington, parents John Ekins & Mary. Thomas & William, brothers? I then have a record for an Elizabeth Ekins, Christened 3rd September 1732 at Wymington. An older sister? Further back I have a record of the Christening of a John Ekins 15th November 1694 at Little Staughton, parents John Ekins & Grace. I then find a John Ekins marrying Mary Clarke 11th July 1720 at Wymington. Going back from Thomas working in Blunham and born in Wymington then John Ekins born Little Staughton and a John Ekins marrying at Wymington. I know that the surname 'Ekins' features strongly in Riseley but feel that on balance Wymington & Little Staughton are more likely to lead to Thomas Ekins who I know is a direct ancestor. Any additional info or info from new sources will be gratefully received. |

I have traced my paternal line of 'Ekins' back to the marriage of Thomas Ekins in Blunham, Bedford in 1767. Finding his birth year, place and his parents is proving difficult although I do have some ideas. Can anyone help with further information? |
