goldclan Report 12 Nov 2015 21:23

My grt grandfather was born Memel, Prussia now Klaipeda, Lithuania about 1835/40.
The story is he went to England from Prussia changed his name to SMITH and arrived here in NZ about 1868/70.

He lived and died in Ahaura, West Coast, New Zealand
Married Mary Ann BAILEY 1875
Children: Amelia, Frederick Edward, Elizabeth Grace, Adelaide Maude, Richard, Frank, Frank Boundy, Clarence Henry William and Stratford.
His death certificate printout has no parents names possibly because his teenage son would have given the details at the time in 1896.
In the past I have searched LDS libraries, films etc but nothing solid was found.
I am revisiting this search and any ideas would be welcome please.
Will be variations in the spelling of his christian name.
