Hi. Thanks JoonieCloonie - I have tried contacting those you sent privately.

I later found a member on the site that had Rachel Waters and Thomas James on his tree.. I messaged him and he told me that the Rachel Waters in his tree married a Thomas James of Thomas Chapel - Begelly. ( I remember someone mentioning this to me before on the forum)

He then said that he was a widow (which we knew) but he said that John Waters was his offspring with his deceased wife.. ?

Confused!!!

I think Barbara has two accounts here (two trees)

I'll send you the details privately rather than discuss her here

the account you likely sent your message to (the one that shows Selwyn Waters) is likely more recent though ...

also sent various other info and contact info for Barbara's daughter

Thanks. I cpuldn't seem to find that. Thank you!

I am slightly disappointed because I think that the Barbara Waters who has a tree on here, is somewhere along the lines related as we have many relations in our trees. Sadly I am unable to contact her :(

Yes, someone, Chris maybe? found the death of Jane Harries in 1893 - I've pmed you a copy of the burial record.

I believe John Waters' single mum, Jane Waters (image of John's baptism pmed to you), had married Thomas Harries in 1890, and they along with John are visitors of the Adams family in census 1891, with Rachel Waters working in the household next door for widower Thomas James, a farmer, who she later married (image of marriage register also pmed to you).

Looks like after Jane's death, Thomas and Rachel James took responsibility for John, who was Rachel's nephew.

yes, finally!! thanks alviegal.

also - I am going to be even more of a pain now. I'm reading through all the information. so what we think is, or is it certain.. that john waters (father unknown) lived with his aunty Rachel James - who married her employer? would the reason be his mother jane may have passed away?

that's six days to go ... so I am resolved to wait until then and not to keep opening this thread multiple times a day now even though it shows a new post every time I check my threads :-)

if it said the 28th, then you should stop disappointing yourself by expecting it before then! :-D

(also, once you do get the certificate, your thread is now pages longer than it should be and that much more difficult to check back in for info ... probably we should all just delete our when-will-it-come posts once it does :-) )

If it's any consolation, Natalie, I haven't received my certificate yet. They said date of issue was to be Sep. 11th. and I know it doesn't take that long for letters to cross the Atlantic., everything's air mail now.

JoonieCloonie

JoonieCloonie Report 21 Sep 2015 22:21

my sad tale Natalie is that I once waited two months for a certificate (one I was not desperate to see obviously), and when it occurred to me that it should really have arrived by then ... this was before on line tracking ... I emailed the GRO to inquire ... and found it had been put in the post, lo, those 2 months before and lost its way en route

they send another one immediately and it arrived promptly!

I think we've all had the experience of waiting for the postie day after day and the disappointment of not receiving the document. It is such a letdown and you feel so deflated. I hope you have not much longer to wait. <3 <3
