Thank you everyone for all your help and support for my search for Millicent Osborne.
I have her and the story of what happened to her. The thing I have really learned is that even the birth, marriage and death certificates are not always accurate , and definate memories of family can be completely wrong.
Millicent Osborne was born in 18th August 1879 , Married Albert Wallace (b 1880) in 1900.
They had twins Herbert and Albert 10th January 1901, son Sidney Harry Wallace 1903-1904 and youngest son Henry Stanley b 1905. She left when Henry (Harry) was quite small and had a child with Edward Lancaster in 1908. I cannot find a marriage for them but she seems to have taken his name and written out her life with Albert Wallace. She went on to have 8 children with Edward Lancaster and died in 1928 with him by her side, in Ashby de la Zouche. Having previously lived in Leicester and Nottingham.
We actually got the lead from a DNA ethnicity test and some of her decendants were also on there.
WE are now on the search for all we can to find the rest of the family and my mother finally has some peace of mind about about her grandmother and a million more questions.
Thank you all

I have no idea if that's the right woman or not!
I just searched for the death of any Millicent or Minnie Wallace born in 1880 , and picked one that seemed reasonable - but only the death cert will prove whether or not that's the right one.

At least it will if the informant is a relative whose name you recognise.

"The following information was recorded on death certificates in England and Wales between 1 July 1837 and 31 March 1969:

When and where died
Name and surname
Sex
Age
Occupation
Cause of death
Signature, description and residence of informant
When registered."

ArgyllGran I think you have her! How did you manage to get to her??
I'm going to send for a death certificate to see if its really her.
Off I go on another branch I hope.
Thank you all xx

Unfortunately, some people do just seem to disappear from the records, in spite of exhaustive searching.

I'm sure most of us have someone like that in our trees. I certainly have.

Birth is easily found on freebmd JAS qtr 1879

If you obtain a copy of the cert, you’ll know her exact DOB, which could prove helpful

greyghost Report 11 Jul 2020 16:58

If you have an exact DOB for her there is a possibility that she could be found on the 1939 register if still alive. This would depend on the record there being correct of course. Many records seem to pop up with day and month correct, but the year out.

She could also have taken up with someone else and be living under his name, there's nothing to say she kept her married name or reverted to her maiden name.

Despite lots of help from Ann Cardiff and Catherine I am still no further forward with finding out what happened to my great grandmother Millicent Osborne also known as Minnie Wallace After 6 more years of searching I feel like giving up but can't seen to stop myself. I need a new way of going forward. I have gone sideways and back but still no luck I have looked at overseas records with no luck. Ship logs with no luck although thought I had her for a while.
What happened to Millicent Wallace nee Osbourne sometimes known as Minnie??

Hi Catherine, some of what you've found I already have.
Birth date is 1880 +-1 no more. I don't know what to think about her situation. I think she left for someone else but don't know if she used married name Wallace or refered to herself as maiden name Osborne. My great grand father would only say she's dead and not talk about her and neither would my grand dad Herbert. I was told she went up to my grand dads twin some time after the war and to tell him who she was but he wouldn't have anything to do with her.
I haven't found any death record that looks like it may have been her.
Many thanks for all your help.

Death may not be correct as this looks to be the record:-

Deaths Mar 1951 (>99%)
WALLACE Minnie 78 Nuneaton 9c 1323
(dob = 1873)

..........so date of birth would not be correct.

If she did leave Albert for someone else but the couple didn't divorce, then she may have had to wait until after Albert's death to marry?
