Did you buy the marriage certificate then? Or what evidence did you find that made you change Alfred's birth year from 1896 in Lincolshire to1887 and possibly Cambridgeshire please.

There seems to be quite a few Hart families in Cambridgeshire. Not sure how you can be sure that you are following the correct line, unless of course you have wills or some other documentation to connect them as the direct line of your Alfred.

Could anyone find out a bit more about John Hart born 1755 died 1800. 6th ancestor of Thomas Hart born 1605 died 1661.
He was probabley born in Cambridgeshire, not 100% sure.

You really need the 1916 marriage certificate and then the birth that Chris has posted.

I cant see a death for the above Alfred in a similar area to the census, so things are pointing to the death in 1941

Not unusual to find name changes as you go back...

Don't confuse yourself too much, work back from present with Certs., and then you need Parish Records, remembering, not all are online!.

But I've stopped because the name changes to Harte from Hart....

According to the 41 census Sarah Sr. was 45, Sarah Jr. 20 and John 15 but take ... I believe his parents were Richard Hart and Sarah Godbill.
