his death notice states he was john stanlake but known as stan beloved husband of edna, but no children? particularly interested to see if he had children with emmeline his first wife

yes this is his death and I can see he married edna clarke in 1944 and they stayed married. could you in any way find out if he had children, either with emmeline or edna? also when did he and emmeline divorce?

Lots of marriages broke down during the war and because it was too expensive and difficult to get divorced in those days couples often just separated and went on to live with someone else as man and wife either not bothering to get married or to marry bigamously.

I know she married someone called john stanlake palmer in 1937 but do not know what happened to that marriage or if there were children born into the marriage. The next bit I can pick up is that she had two children out of wedlock to another man! in 1944 and 1946. I want to know what happened in between, where did she live etc,,,,what happened to john?

thank you Kath, I will go to living relatives, I guess I was rather hoping David would be tracing his tree also x I think the Murch family are still thriving in Devon, but I dont want to go there in a vain attempt.
