Looking for this family in early censuses please:

Joseph WILLIAMS, miner, b. 1804 in Wellington, Shropshire with wife Sarah TURNER b. c1801; they married in 1823. I have no death details for either of them.

I think Coal miner on Bank means that they picked coal out of thre spoil once it had been brought up to the surface. However I think girls were employed underground to pull the carts of coal to the bottom of the shaft. There was an outcry about the practise, not because they actually did the work, but because they stripped to the waist because it was so hot!

There is a reconstruction of a Shropshire mine at Blists Hill Museum, which is well worth a visit.

I think Joseph was Rebecca's son.
