Yes I have done a lot of the research on this person and I have uncovered a couple of marriages in this name and I know what the duties of a Town Clerk does, but I was hoping that there was someone who knew how to access more records than I can to confirm what I have found. Usually even when a person is a town clerk he has another occupation but not to worry I will plod on to unravel what I have already got, many thanks for your interest.

Why do you assume that he married?

Buy his death cert..........for the informant's details

As for his occupation.........google 'town clerk' and there will be info about the duties of the person in that postion

You could check FreeBMD for possible marriages in the area and buy the certificates to see if any are him.

As there is no mention of a wife/widow on the probate........maybe he never married.
