What is his father's occupation on the marriage cert?
I would think the 1`851 census is him, but if in doubt you could get the birth cert:

Yes I think that is him but the age is incorrect. His age on his marriage is also wrong - he said he was 36 and that Emma was 20 when in fact he was 38 and she was 17, probably thought 36 and 20 looked better than 38 and 17. Thanks for the help. Jayne

About a year ago I was given help with information regarding my Great grandfather Edward Bowerman for which I was extremely grateful. I have since found out a great deal about what happened after he was killed in Australia to his widow and children but I still don't know where he was in the following census - 1871 and 1881. I have his marriage certificate to Emma Tratt in 1884 in Exeter which says his father was Richard Bowerman. 1851c shows him with parents but his age is wrong. 1861c shows him in Tiverton as a servant - name down as Edward Bowerin. I have sent alot of information to my 88 yr old father and am visiting him next week and would love to be able to complete the information so any help would be really appreciated. Jayne.
