I am trying to help my cousin who is having difficulty finding military records, regiment, rank and service no etc for his grandfather and wondering if anyone can help us?
His name was Frederick Marsh (was also known to use William as a middle name but it is not on his birth certificate). Born October 1883 Uphill Hawking Folkestone,
married Elizabeth Esther Bennett in 1911, They had 5 children and he died in
December 1971 in Lyminge, Kent.
We have tried the East Kent Buffs and East Surrey regiment, but nothing seems to tie up.
Thanks!
Flicky :)

Ancestry has all the surviving WW1 Army service records unless he may have been an officer, in which case any record will be at the National Archives.

If any of his children were born during the war, their birth certs MAY give details of fathers regiment and/or number.
