Thank you K for looking,

Shirley... I suspect that the 1901 man in Greeock will be a brother of John Neeson.
His POB also says Ireland and looks about right
My couple married in Greenock 1881 but typically, it is the wife that I am researching.
She should be Irish too.
She was almost definitely raised in Ireland and her 1st marriage took place there too.
If she was born in Scotland, then it puts a whole new perspective on things!
Her sister was my gg grandmother.

FMP does have scottish census, 1841 to 1901, but I currently do not have a sub

Doing a free search does not produce any results on FMP

Thank you Shirley... it was a long shot.
I cannot think where they might be hiding in 1901 but I will keep digging.

I didn't know FMP had no Scottish census records.

Thankies Anyway
Anne

Could someone with FMP do a lookup please just to confirm
Occasionally records are missing from Ancestry but can be found on FMP

This couple were both previously widowed and only married in Jun 1881.

They are on the 1891 census in Pollockshaws, Eastwood, Renfrewshire only..
As the wife died in Pollockshaws in 1905, I would have hoped to locate them there in 1901 too, but cannot find them using ANC.

This is 1891:
Name: John Neeson
Age: 57
Estimated Birth Year: abt 1834
Relationship: Head
Spouse's name : Elizabeth Neeson
Gender: Male
Where born: Ireland
Registration number: 562
Registration district: Eastwood
Civil parish: Eastwood
County: Renfrewshire
Address: 20, Dovecot, Shawhill
Occupation: Fish & Fruit Dealer
ED: 2
Household schedule number: 140
Line: 1
Roll: CSSCT1891_178
Household Members:
Name Age
John Neeson 57
Elizabeth Neeson 45 Glasgow

I am trying to determine if Elizabeth's place of birth also says Glasgow on a 1901 census.
She is definitely the correct person but I am certain her place of birth should be somewhere in Ireland rather than Glasgow.

NB I have already checked her birth name with her parents... No Scottish birth record exists!
Nor is this couple on any 1901 census of Ireland!

Thankies
Anne
