Thought I would take a look on FreeBMD. And no I haven't gone loopy-brained. :-S :-S :-S

I was wondering if there were none apparent in Lancashire, presumably these guys had kin who would perhaps show up once Civil Registration started. So I did Peeler - any event - Sept 1837 to Dec 1890. A few in other parts of England but most in Dudley area in West Midlands.

Maybe these guys had moved away from their own area.

Added: How about Payler for a variation? FreeBMD has quite a few of them over the border in Yorkshire.J

Flip

The site on which he appears in trees... is it ANCESTRY?

Lancashire archives has reference to various prosecution costs for William Peeler between 1819 and 1828, he was prosecuted in Salford. There are also references to Thomas Peeler also prosecuted in Salford.

However, Lancashire opc has good coverage of the parish registers but there are no recorded bmd's for any "Peeler" 20 years either side of his estimated birth. This is strange, if he was from Lancashire I would have hoped to find some reference to the surname.

William appears on a number of trees on A* but none of them has anything on his ancestry - other than his conviction & transportation.

Have you tried "Search all trees" under the Search button above?

If you find a possible match then you can contact the tree owner to see if you have a connection.

Try sending them a message - just delete the default message that appears about having access to their tree and type your own message explaining who you are looking for.

Trying to find information on ancestor William Peeler, born Lancashire? 1805. Convicted 21st January, 1828, at Lancashire. Transported to Van Dieman`s Land (Tasmania) Australia on 29th April, 1828. He also had a relative, Thomas Peeler, transported in 1820. This is all the information I have of him from England. Hope someone can help, thanks
