HELP NEEDED PLEASE!!!!! I have hit abrick wall with my ancestor ALICE KING.

She married a Reuben Goodwin in Nottingham, England in 1893 aged 22. This would make her DOB approx. 1871.

I also know that on one census she gives her place of birth as Aleton Grange, Lincolnshire and that her father was an Edward King who had died by the time of her marriage.

However, I cannot trace this family at all and Aleton Grange does not seem to exist with this spelling.

Can anyone help please? Any information would be gratefully received.

If Allington is the correct place of birth, this could be Alice in 1891. Allington and Ingoldsby are both close to Grantham

Thanks to all of you who have so kindly taken the time to reply to my plea. The Goodwin links are very helpful.

However, we too assumed that Alice came from the Ingoldsby family and that her father was Francis until we obtained her marriage certificate and it named her father as Edward. Hence the problem.

Thanks for the tip that she could be known by her middle name, a friend of ours gave that as a suggestion for both her and her father as they knew of one family that still today names their chidren after their grandparents names but they are known by their middle names. Confusing when trying to trace them!!!
