The Irish 1901 looks a possibility, but I would obviously have to purchase marriage certs to be sure.

This could be a complete red herring. I am wondering if he married in Ireland as he was an "Army Pensioner"?

I have an ancestor, Charles Edward Kennedy b. 1855 Stepney, Middx.
In 1861 he is living at home in Mile End, Old Town , Stepney with his siblings and parents, Thomas Kennedy and Elizabeth.
In 1871 there is a Charles E Kennedy 16 boarding with a Gibbs family and is a greengrocers porter, but I have confirmed this is not my Charles.
I cannot find him again until 1911, when he is staying with his sister and brother-in-law, Henry and Elizabeth Harris, in Lillingstone Dayrell, Bucks. He is now a widower age 56 and an Army Pensioner.
I can find no Army records for him.
I found a death in 1939 in Southwark age 85 but it may or may not be right, as he is a retired Estate Agents Clerk and the informant was a step daughter (E. Enwood ).
