Find Ancestors

hi everyone :)
really stuck on this, he was born 1740 newchurch isle of wight, married mary groves in 1762 and passed away in 1795. i have proof of his marriage, but not his birth or death, as far as i know, he never left the isle of wight. im more interested in proof of his birth, any ideas on where to look now ?

How do you know he was born in 1740 and passed away in 1795 if you do not have proof of it?

I have seen entries for 2 of their Banns.

I have not found anything to say John was born in 1740 tho :-/
