Does anyone have this in their tree he moved to Greenock in Scotland circa 1840

Welcome to the boards.

Have you tried "Search all trees" under the Search button above?

Put in James Stevenson, born 1820 in Ireland.

If you find a possible match you can contact the tree owner to see if you have a match.

I would suggest that you delete the automatic message that is already in the message box and write your own as members will not open their tree without first establishing the connection with you.
