I agree it is probably the wrong place. I put it up more to prove it was not the right one as Wm's father is not a miner in this one |

Thank you Lancashire Ann - I shall make a note of the baptism of William with Robert and Mary as parents. It certainly looks good but I am still wary as William was born Masham/Fearby so why would he be baptised Cleckheaton? Also he was married in Kelloe - across the border into the Durham county. I was thinking either the family moved into that area or maybe William alone moved for work - he was a miner after all. Until I can positively prove this one way or the other, I can't add siblings. Thank you so much for trying. |

Reggie - occupation of William definitely a miner and I THINK (from memory) Robert was too. Sorry I didn't have time to 'google' as I was trying to answer the folk who had helped. |

Reggie - William was definitely a miner and from memory I believe Robert was too. As I said I cannot lay my hands on the cert at the moment to check, but I am almost certain Robert was a miner as well. |

What was his occupation when he married? Also, what was his father's occupation? And who witnessed the marriage? |

Dea - I can't find the cert at the moment. It is not with the bulk of the others I have got and I think I must have had it out at some time whilst trying to trace him. I do remember that it did not say deceased for the father Robert so he was still around in 1855. The marriage took place at St. Helen's Church, Kelloe which is in County Durham. |

I have tried for literally years to find William Walker. The only positive proof I have of William is his marriage to Elizabeth Thirlaway in 1855 where it states his father is Robert. I have the census returns for William/Elizabeth and their growing family from 1861 onwards but nowhere can I locate him on earlier censuses. On 1861 census he is described as 35, on 1871 44 and 1881 57. His year of birth is therefore around 1827/27. His place of birth has been put as both Masham, Yorkshire and Fearsby, Yorkshire. I understand that these two places are next to each other. I have tried 1851 and 1841 to locate a William Walker with father Robert but to no avail. I have also failed to locate parish records for Masham/Fearsby as I was hoping to perhaps ascertain his parents via these but no luck. Where do I go next on this last-ditch attempt ? Anyone any ideas ? Thanks. |
