Alice gives the maiden name Hedley on Robert's birth certificate. I know that her father was Robert Chirnside from her marriage certificate with Andrew Dixon in 1910, and she appears with her father in the census1871 East Chevington and 1881 Longhurst Village. I also know that Robert Forrest was the brother of my grandmother Florence May. There is no father's name given on her birth certificate. I have been looking for a 1891 census for Alice to no avail, and have not found a marriage to anyone else.

It would have saved so much effort if you'd given all the relevant info in your first post.....it was sadly lacking, as I'm sure you'll agree if you re-read it

What is the exact wording on the birth cert, with reference to Alice?

Thanks Reggie, if only it were that simple. I have Robert's birth certificate - the only connecting piece to Francis. No marriage found. And several Francis' in the census. I don't even know where he was born. Thanks for taking the time to reply.

Had son Robert Archbold in1893 with Alice Chirnside. Would like to hear from anyone who knows of the Forrest family to which Francis belonged.
