Thank you Flip for your continued interest. I am still persuing the certificates but there is a slight delay in that my neighbour, the family of the tree, has cried off contact, temporarily, with a bad cold and, I have to admit I don't want to share it!

Flip Report 26 Oct 2012 20:25

So why have the other posters deleted their comments? Obviously I don't copy to my computer as it isn't my history so not sure what has gone on in the missing posts. But I still think you need George's birth cert for his parentage if he's your target.

Hi Flip,
I am sure I replied on here yesterday to tell you that I couldn't remember who else had been on the thread but I always copy all the info into my 'family file' in my computer as it arrives. Copy and Paste is now more difficult because some bright spark at GR has changed the message board font to one that is not known by my 2003 Word, so appears as a series of red dots but this wrinkly is up to the challenge and a quick swipe of all the dotted area and change the font to Times New Roman and all the message appears!

Where did all the other posts go?? I've been away for a couple of days and most of the previous posts have disappeared!

Still need another pair of eyes to find George Edwards in 1861, or even William Edwards! Also, what is your opinion on the 1851 census for the 2 children named Ann - I'm not convinced the younger child is Ann?

If it's George you are tracking then I think you need that birth certificate to establish parentage! None of the A* trees has him as William's child - although that means nothing.

Flip

Flip Report 21 Oct 2012 14:13

There are some trees on A* with parents Charles Edwards and Harriet Burnside getting married 30/1/1804, and her born c1785 in Pavement, York. Don't know how reliable they are though, and the 1851 census states her age as 55 so born c1796? So, it's a possibility that the 1851 census wrongly recorded her age but I'm at a loss as to how to check this without finding her in 1841.

The trees also state she died in 1855, & Charles in 1857. They have Harriet (jnr) getting married to William Hainsworth in 1855, and William Edwards dying in 1882 but his wife Hannah Killam dying in 1849.

BUT it could all be speculation!

added - have sent PM with 1851 census image

Flip

Flip Report 21 Oct 2012 13:11

Sorry, didn't see your last post. I can't find Harriet senior in 1841 just their daughter Harriet (c1826) and then both of them in 1851. Harriet snr may have been with other family members but wrongly recorded in 1841 (eg with a married daughter and the name "dittoed") or simply her name mistranscribed.

Flip

Flip Report 21 Oct 2012 13:05

OK smartypants, mine have just come from Tesco!

We could do with finding George in 1861, there's no way of knowing from the 1851 census if he is actually William's son - he could be the son of one of William's siblings (Harriet is still at home & single, and we know from 1841 census there were 2 other brothers).

I'm not having any luck finding him in 1861 though, so could do with another pair of eyes!! Also, that 1851 census has Ann Jane Edwards (10) and Ann Edwards (5), but I'm not sure the younger one is Ann - it's difficult to read the image if someone could take a look?

Frances Report 21 Oct 2012 12:27

I am looking for William Edwards siblings and his parents' marriage in Family Search and the results coming up make me wonder if Harriets age in 1851 is correct. Does she show up in 1841 with a different age please?

Can't see a death reg for Hannah, but they weren't all recorded.

I've got to go buy the spuds before I can peel them! ;-)

Thanks Flip, that is great. I have to take a short break now to peal potatoes for roasting but don't that stop anybody finding anything interesting while I am gone - lol

Frances

Frances Report 21 Oct 2012 10:43

All this info is starting to make my head spin!
I think I will stick with Flip's 1851. Ravensthorpe is next to Dewsbury Allotment so I think not the right place for my George

Flip
