I hope someone can help me with this? I am looking for information about my Grandfather's second wife. His name was Albert Victor Jones, and her name was Nellie Watson. They were married in the Apr-Jun period of 1956. I am trying to find out if Watson was Nellie's maiden name or if it was her surname from a previous marraige. If anyone can help with this it would be greatly appreciated.

by 1956 if Nellie had been married before against Albert it would probably have indicated spouse Watson or nnnnn

There is a birth for Nellie Watson in Sheffield, which would fit in with the marriage as being in her maiden name.

Is she still alive?
Thanks

Thankyou LancashireAnn and patchem for your replies.I have looked at the original entry and it doe's not say spouse or nnnnn. Unfortunatly she is not alive so I will try to get a copy of the marraige certificate which hopefully will have her fathers name on it.

Hello Michael - did they have any children? If so, then their birth registration should show her maiden name and not a previously married name.

The only way its to get the marriage cert . No one can tell you info unless they knew the couple ,which is probably unlikely
