Paper Hanger?

If it's any help, one of mine was described as a paper hanger and then went on to be a decorator, then a painter and decorator.

Sorry Mel- only just spotted your reply-he was a Mason and at one point a hawker too- he died of TB - (Said he'd been ill at least 9 months)- so doesn't really help- although they were teriibly rough and obviously badly off- so wallpapering seems a bit specialised-inless they were all fibbing as usual! I don't think many people around his area would have had him in their house!

But what about the paper making industry??????????? did'nt they hang it up to dry once it cam eout of the frame???

One of my ancestors it says on his death cert was a Paper hanger. I though, that maybe it was wallaper hanging. Then I found out there was a paper mill-so maybe something there. At one point he was also a Mason too.
he died of TB if thats any help! 1868

Any thought anyone?
