There is a tree on Ancestry that says her birth was 5 July 1903 Worcestershire but they have no parents names.

Your friend really needs to buy her birth and marriage cert to find her fathers name and occupation and the we can look further for her.

A possibility???

The 1911 census has the following family:

Address: 4 Roseland Terrace, Highmore St, Westfields Hereford

Head: Richard John Harman c1863 Somerset, occ: Plasterer
Wife: Emily Harman c1870 Hereford
Daughter: Gertrude Jessie Harman c1901 Bournbrook Birmingham
Son: Frederick Rueben Harman c1907 Birmingham
Daughter: Evelyn Emily Harman c1909 Hereford

This census records that they had 4 children, and 4 still alive, so one missing on census night.

Marriage:
Richard John Harman
Emily Jones
Sept Q1896
Hereford
6a 926a

In 1901 census this couple have 1 child, Gertrude J, aged 5 months

Harman births in KIngs Norton 1896-1911:

Gertrude Jessie 1900
Hilda Annie 1903
Frederick Reuben 1906
Leslie Harold 1906
Ethel M 1910

Leslie is in the 1911 census as an only child of George and Minnie.

As Frederick R was born in Birmingham and Evelyn Emily was born in 1909 in Hereford, unless the family moved back to the Birmingham area, had Ethel M in 1910 then moved back to Hereford by 1911, this would leave Hilda Annie as the possible missing child on the above 1911 census

If her father died and mother remarried then she could be under any name on 1911

Jayne Report 16 Oct 2012 11:29

I am researching for a friend and am having trouble with her mother on the 1911 census. Hilda Annie Harman born c1903 in Kings Norton (Birmingham area). I cannot find her in the 1911 census despite having used different spellings of her surname. I know she married in 1929 inn Tamworth Charles Leslie Dain. I would be grateful for any assistance and I thank you in advance. Jayne
