Nudge is simply a way of moving a thread to the top of the board

ANY post on a thread has that effect..........

Stuart Report 14 Oct 2012 20:15

I am looking for information regarding the relatives of a John Johnston and Mary McCullagh who are the parents of Samuel Johnston, bn 18 December 1872 in Portglenone, Ballymena, Antrim.

I have found a Record of a Civil Marriage between a John Johnston and a Mary McCollough in Ballymena Registrars Office on 12 October 1861, John shown as aged 35 and Mary 23 at the time.

Other records I found shows that two Elizabeth Johnston's were born in 1868 and 1870 respectively in Portglenone, one to a John Johnston and Mary McCullagh and the other to John Johnston and Mary McCollough. They could be the same couple with the name spelled differently and the first child died young or perhaps they are a completely different family.

FamilySearch.org death records show that a John J 1844 - 1917 and a Mary McCullough 1843 - 1914 (yet another spelling varation) died in Ballymena, they are too young to be the ones shown in the Marriage Record but cannot be ruled out as the parents of Samuel at this stage.

Samuel eventually moved to Scotland, married a Helen Jane Millar in Greenock and settled in the Dumbarton area where his descendants now live.

Any advice /assistance greatly received.

PS. What does 'Nudge' mean ?
