Susan Report 14 Oct 2012 15:47

Can't find anything on Fanny after she was a witness at her sister's marriage in 1865. However, on her father's obituary notice in 1872, it stated that he was survived by 8 of his 12 children.
Henry William b 1829 d 1832
Frederick Charles Patey b 1830 d 1912
Charles Bethel Carden b 1831 d 1832
Matilda Jane b 1833 d bef. 1841
Henrietta Charlotte b 1835 d 1898
Margaret Frances Susan b1837 d after 1891
Victor Benjamin b 1838 d 1839
Fanny Anne b 1840 d ?
Elizabeth Howard b 1841 d 1923
Henry Arthur b 1843 d 1906
Emily Sarah b 1845 d 1924
Matilda Florence b 1848 d 1923

So if 8 children survived him, I believe Fanny Anne must have been one of them. I know Margaret Frances Susan was alive after 1891.
If anyone can help me find out when Fanny either married or died, I would appreciate it.

Thanks for all your help Catherine. I had looked at all the censuses but couldn't find her after 1851. I did take a look at the marriages, but wasn't sure since this was in Spalding, Lincolnshire. However, its possible that she went to work in Lincolnshire, and so got married there. But the interesting thing to me is that her father was a surgeon and apothecary, and it looks like Charles Turner was a druggist, so that may be the connection here. I had wondered if she had followed a three of her sisters and had gone to Russia. Two got married in Russia and one Margaret Frances Susan went out there as well. Henrietta Charlotte married and stayed in Russia. Emily Sarah married in Russia, but came back with her family around the 1890's and her sister Margaret came back too. I need to look into the Charles Turner family more and see if I can find any other connection, so thanks for taking the time to research this for me. Susan

Hi Catherine, Just thought you might like to know the outcome of Fanny Anne Robinson and Charles Copeland Turner. After your help, I started looking at the censuses to see if there was a link to my gr.gr.grandfather. The fact that Charles was a druggist was a good start. Henry Charles Robinson was a surgeon having trained at Guy's and St. Thomas' hospitals. From there he went to Plymouth under the apprenticeship of Mr. William Patey Baldy, an apothecary for 5 years. In 1829 he was qualified to practise as an apothecary in London. So I am imagining that he may have crossed paths with Charles Copeland Turner at some time professionally. Charles was born around 1828.

Following on from the information you gave me, I found an article in The London Gazette for 24th December 1872, entitled Henry Charles Robinson, Deceased.

This paragraph asks that all persons having any claims or demands upon or against the estate of Henry Charles Robinson, ..... whose will was proved on 17th July 1872 by Henry Arthur Robinson (son) and Charles Copeland Turner, who were the executors. I haven't written out the whole piece, but I think that this shows that his son Henry and son-in-law Charles were the executors.

So I can now add Fanny Anne's married name and family to my tree, which for me has solved another of the family history mysteries which keep cropping up.

Thanks again, Susan

Catherine

A pleasure Susan, glad to have been able to help in your research.
To be 100% sure you could always invest in the marriage certificate which should give her father's name and occupation.
It's always nice to have feedback, especially when it's positive, so thank you for getting back to let me know.
Much appreciated.
Good luck with the rest of your research.
Regards Catherine :-D
