Find Ancestors

Hi,
Another post I had for above, which was answered, related to another matter of a record of another man in USA of same name, but my new question is about another problem I'm trying to resolve, if anyone can help please.
I have the Death Certificate for my unknown half-brother Douglas Frederick Hinman (Planning Engineer) who died 2 June 1976 at home at Chadwell Heath, Romford, London Borough of Redbridge (I also have his birth & marriage records plus phone directory details in same place) At the time he died his wife had pre-deceased him. The informant on his Death Certificate is Shirley Brady, of the same address as deceased, and Shirley was "present at the death". When his wife Iris Lilian Grace Hinman, nee Potter, died at Tunbridge Wells in Dec 1975, her death was registered Jan 1976 by Coroner after an Inquest, but her Death Certificate shows she was a Teacher living at an Hotel there, so it's possible she and Douglas had separated or divorced maybe? My questions here in this post are as follows:
1) can anyone find any obvious record for a Shirley Brady, of a suitable age, for say Ilford, Romford or Redbridge (or at least in Essex) please?
2) Or are there any family trees with Shirley Brady on, but that may of course be her married name?
Any help or suggestions would be welcome please (NB: If I could find any living relative of Shirley Brady, who I could contact, they might be able to provide further information about Douglas)

What would be a 'suitable age' for Shirley?

What was Iris's marital status at the time of her death? The death cert should have that info

Nothing directly to do with Shirley, but have you tried to find a will for him?

There is a possible birth for him on free bmd in 1934 in Romford, and 2 people have him in their trees on here.

There is a possible first marriage for him, and death of wife, in 1972 .
That marriage produced 2 daughters, one of whom is a member on here.

Will pm a possible marriage of a Shirley to a Brady in Romford in 1959.

Thanks for your very prompt help and interesting info, but sorry for my delayed response here.

Death Cert' I have for Iris, who died 26 Dec 1975 Tonbridge, Kent, does not show her marital status! Informant was by information from Coroner after Inquest, so Cert' issued Jan 1976 (Q: Can I get copy of Inquest/Coroner's report, if so how/where, if public?)

Could not find any Will registrations for Douglas or Iris (can you?)

As I did not know about any children of Douglas and Iris, please can you let me know names and registration details etc you found for possible daughters?
Q: Could Sheila Brady have been his married/or twice-married daughter?

When you say "first marriage" I assume you refer to the marriage for Douglas and Iris? (NB: I also have Marriage Cert' for Douglas and Iris in 1948 at West Ham)
Do you know of a possible second marriage for him, if so please let me know registration details?

How can I find tree for the connected member you mention, so I can send them a message through Genes?
(As Douglas was my unknown half-brother, I'd be very interested in contacting any descendants of his, especially as I did not know or meet our common birth-father and I'd like to find someone with photos of both!)

Marriage 1980 in Redbridge seems likely as right area, i.e near Chadwell Heath/Romford, but can you please let me know details?

Also 1959 marriage in Romford for "a Shirley to a Brady" would fit and give me her maiden name too, so again please could you let me have details you found?

Would be most grateful for your further expert assistance and kind help please, if possible.

2) How can I find and contact the member you refer to please?
As I was not aware of any children for Douglas and Iris I'd be very interested to know more and contact a connected member. Please can you help?

She (Iris) is listed as a single woman here. It also gives details for Lionel Augustus William Potter

Great! Thanks for that. This is her OK, but I think she's described as 'single' because then divorced from her husband Douglas Frederick Hinman. Still it contains a good contact to follow up too.

Horray I now see! Think I've managed to sort it out:
Shirley STANLEY married Jeremiah Brady Jun 1959 Romford, Essex (her first marriage)
Shirley BRADY (nee Stanley) second marriage to John A Cowland Jan-Mar 1980 Redbridge, Greater London.
Also found first marriage for John A Cowland to Avril Vera M Hollick Apr-Jun 1955 Romford (her parents Mary Ann Ethel Howe & Harry Hollick)
Avril born 30 Apr 1934 Romford - died Mar 1972 Havering, Greater London.

I would still like to know how to contact other tree owner who has above on tree, to see if they have info about Douglas and his father/family. Please can you advise?

Look toward the top of the Genes page, click on 'Search'.

On drop down menu pick 'Search all trees'

Enter name and approximate birth year of relative you are searching for.

When you find a match, click on 'find out more' button to the right of the relevant tree owners name to send a message to them.

No guarantee they'll reply, but worth a go.

She may well have made a will
