Hi Reggie. Yes I did see this Annie Maud Pickersgill born 25 Dec 1889 in Lindley, Huddersfield, Yorkshire. and the death in 1938 Huddersfield, Yorkshire.. but unable to tie it to Robert Smith.

If Robert Smith (father) was an engineer then it could be an overseas marriage

I am looking for the marriage of Robert Smith (Engineer) and Annie Maud Pickersgill plus the dates and place of birth of their 2 children.

They had 2 children that I know of, Robert Smith and Annie Smith

Robert Smith (junior) (age 20) married Annie McMorland on 29 May 1928 in Glasgow, Scotland.
Annie Smith (age19) married James McVey on 28 Nov 1930 in Kirkmichael, Ayrshire, Scotland.
Both Robert and Annie on their marriage records give their parents as Robert Smith (Engineer) and Annie Maud Pickersgill, and are both living at the time of their marriages.

Robert Smith (junior) died on 09 Mar 1986 in Ayr, Ayrshire. The informant gave his date of birth as 17 Feb 1909
Annie McVey (nee Smith) died 24 Oct 1977 in Belvidere Hospital, Glasgow. The informant gave her date of birth as 06 Aug 1913

I have searched without success using the Scottish BMD records for the Smith/Pickersgill marriage, and also the births of the 2 children Robert and Annie again without success. The Scottish 1911 census also fails to find this family.

I then directed my efforts to the English records as there is a strong family rumour that the family lived in Manchester. Using ancestry.co.uk I have been unable to find the family in the English 1911 census, the marriage of Robert Smith and Annie Pickersgill, or the births of the 2 children Robert (junior) around 1909 and Annie Smith around 1913.

On some of the Scottish records Robert Smith (junior) was sometimes known as Robert Vincent Smith and Annie McVey (nee Smith) was sometimes known as Annie Maud Pickersgill Smith.

I did notice a few Pickersgills located in and around Yorkshire.

I thank anyone who takes the time to look at my problem.
