Possible his birth wasn't recorded officially?

As Ellen was born in Canada (America Canada on 1881 image) is it possible Stephen went over there to work and brought her back home - or maybe he was an army child and the whole family were over there for a number of years?

Not found them in 1871 either

So it is back to the marriage cert

The information is correct - my mistake on Margaret's birthdate, my brain is quite addled now!

i don't know where to find Stephen's parents though. All the Marshalls in Halton Lancaster have no Stephen.

I've searched everywhere for parents of Stephen marshall 1843 ish in Halton nr
Lancaster UK.
Married Ellen Routledge in Manchester in 1864 and died in June 1904 in Salford
As far as i can find, he had only one child - Margaret b 1894 Salford.
All these dates tie in with others researching same family but one child was unusual in the day and he would have been 50+ when she was born.
does anyone have this person in their tree please.
I've checked census records, BMD etc.
