No-one can say whether any record is relevant to your request

The info is provided in good faith.......you must evaluate it, and/or do further research yourself.

I couldn't possibly confirm that.
You have to make that decision based on evidence.
Maybe you could find out if the Ashworth witness was a cousin or some relation to Alice

Yes so .. Are we now saying the 16 April 1799 is almost certainly the correct marriage of my 5 x great grandparents who are John Tricket and Alice Ashworth parents of James who married Margaret Holt

Mike *

Mike * Report 13 Oct 2012 11:40

Notice one of the witnesses to James marriage was an Ashworth

Hang on .... where did you get the marriage date of 1759 from ?

Is this not more likely ?

Marriage: 16 Apr 1799 St Chad, Rochdale, Lancashire, England
John Tricket Alice Ashworth,
both Spotland

Mark

Mark Report 13 Oct 2012 11:37

In your opinion would you consider this to be the correct entry

I just don't think it's likely that James was born to a mother who would be nearly 60.

Have you checked out this marriage ?

Bride from Haslingden ( where young James was married )

Marriage: 31 Dec 1795 St Nicholas, Newchurch in Rossendale, Lancashire, England
James Tricket - of Clough Head in this Chapelry
Betty Walmsley - (X), of Nabb in the Chapelry of Haslingden
Witness: Jas. Haworth; Robt. Heyworth
Married by Banns by: J Shorrock Minister

Thanks

Marriage: 8 Sep 1821 St James, Haslingden, Lancashire, England
James Trickett - (X), of Higher Booths
Peggy Holt - (X), of Higher Booths
Witness: John Ashworth; Abram Holt
Married by Banns with consent of parents by: William Grey Minister

Maybe only Peggy was underage.
If James was born 1799 he would be over 21

If John and Alice were married 1759 would they be having a child 40 years later ?

Is this the reason behind your thinking ?

Where did James give as his birthplace on the census ?

Mark

Mark Report 13 Oct 2012 11:14

I am almost at the point of giving up on this line on my ancestry.

The baptism of James Trickett b. c 1799-1801 as found in 1841-51 census... All i am able to prove at this moment in time is his marriage 8/9/1821 at Haslingden, Lancashire, England. No parents listed. Married by consent. I did believe that his parents could be John and Alce (Ashworth) married 25/12/1759 St Chad, Rochdale
