Continuation.
Mary. I'm not sure this is the right Emily. S/Be b. 1871? Of course, Hepsibah may well have been born after the split between David and Sarah. Especially as Hepsibah was born in Kensington and not around Ealing.
I have Harry, b1880, Rickmansworth. He could have been born at his grandparents' home.
I have a theory that Henry King, b 1866 died before the above Harry was born. However, I can find nothing to substantiate this although it was common practice to reuse tyher name of a child who died. 1891 shows Harry aged 11. Trouble is, Henry would have been around 25 and possibly have left home.

Thankyou all again.

I've been missing for a few days but, my have you all been busy. Thankyou.
I'll try to answer them all in sequence.
Jan. That's both marriages, OK. To William Wells, 1892 and David King, 1856.
1841, OK.
Not sure about 1861 as her baptism is quoted as 11/10/1835. But who knows , a few years?
Apparently, David King and Jane were in the same position as William Wells and Sarah. I think Sarah and David King had broken up certainly before 1871.
Londonbelle. I don't have that record for Hepsibah but looks about right.

Hi Brummiejan this is a complicated tree to say the least.

In 1891 William and Sarah Wells have Harry Wells age 11 born @ 1880 in Rickmansworth Herts, can anybody find him?

Good points Mary, but it was never put as cut & dried, just worth considering.
Where did you find the christening for Sarah Emily?

ADDED as I like checking on Ancestry trees just in case, I can see what looks like this Sarah Emily King on one of them. According to them, David died 1891. Might still be rubbish, but it would fit with the marriage previously posted above.

Emily King was born Sarah Emily King in March 1864.

How could Hepzibah be christened 1869 by David and Sarah?if they were already with other partners.

HI Londonbelle.
That looks promising doesn't it - good find. So the above marriage might have been worth finding after all! Worth considering anyway.
Still no joy with Isadore/Elizabeth/Evelyn though.

Brummiejan, JEC mentions a half sister called Hepsibah b 1869.....I wonder if the following is her baptism?

Name: Hepsibah King
Record Type: Baptism
Baptism Date: 31 Oct 1869
Father's Name: David King occ Labourer
Mother's Name: Sarah King
Parish or Poor Law Union: Kensington St James Norlands
Borough: Kensington and Chelsea
Register Type: Parish Registers
Address: 27 Hunt St

If so, you could be onto something! :-)

brummiejan Report 14 Oct 2012 17:22

I lied. Having looked for the above David, he is on 1871 and 1881 census living in Kensington with wife Jane. I hope you haven't done all this already!
In 1871 he has 'daughter' Emily, also born Hayes in 1864.
I am speculating that the marriage to Sarah might well have broken up by the time Isodore was born - but this presumes I am not barking up the wrong family tree.

I'm going to take a leap and suggest this as a possibility. I think Sarah was born in Bushey Herts, which is covered by Watford.

I think someone else needs to help us!! There happen to be some Kings living in the same street 1911, one is at number 42 in 1881, don't know if this is relevant to your search.

Also not sure it helps even remotely, but did Sarah and William ever marry? Looking at this, but not sure about that name for this Sarah's father!

Well I have an 1881 cesus for a William and Sarah, at Kensington, and with a daughter named,Sandora, born 1872 in Kent. There is also a daughter named, Hephide, born 1869 in Middlesex.
For Sandora and Hephibe read Isadore and Hepsibah, her half sister? The birth years are a bit out but that's nothing unusual.
The census is for 24 Crescent Street, Kensington. I have a school admission record for both girls stating their home address as Crescent Street.
What do you think?

I have the 1871 census.

Isadore King aka Isadore Wells aka Elizabeth, born around 1870, possibly in Kent. Can anyone please help with her birth details etc.?
Her mother Sarah King was living with William Wells, Isador's father, in several census
Isadore married William Batten in 1888, at Kensington.
She was known as Lizzie on the 1911 census.
Her death was registered, St Albans 27.12.1941, in the name of Elizabeth Isadore Batten.
Yes, I know it's a bit puzzling. Hopefully, someone will be able to shed some light. JEC
