1851 Look-up - William Pattison

Hi there,

I am looking for the groom from the following marriage:

Surname First name(s) District Vol Page
Marriages Mar 1854 (>99%)
Pattison William Easington 10a 296a Scan available - click to view
Swales Viner Easington 10a 296a Scan available - click to view

First, does anyone know how I can find out a way of finding the parish in which this marriage took place (without ordering the certificate from the register office)?

And secondly, I know from an email enquiry that William was aged about 23, the son of George Pattison, a Tin smith.

Can we spot him in the 1851 census?

PS I have the family from 1861 onwards, but I am trying to work back from William. In 1861 they are living in Hartlepool, County Durham.

Thank you,

Peter

So - when was William born? Not quite sure at what point he was 23!

I'm having difficulty locating him on the 1861 census.....can you give the way his surname is spelt, year of birth & place of birth on the 1861 census?

Sorry. Yes, William. I am forgetful sometimes. If he was ABOUT 23 in 1854, bis birth year was c. 1831?

Sadly I don't know his birthplace from the top of my head. Ahhh, can we spot him in the 1861 and work backwards to the 1851 with his father?

In 1861 he was living in Hartlepool, County Durham as a tinner/tinsmith, husband of Vinah Pattison (Lavinia).

Oh wow - I don't know! Now this is complicated BUT brace yourself: Vinah Swales' sister, married a James Pattison, son of Isaac Pattison (a tinner and brazier) who according to the 1881 was born in PAISLEY SCOTLAND! Wow, thank you - how did you find this baptism!?

And can you find more? And how could we confirm. Sorry for the overload of questions but this is very exciting.

In 1901, I BELEIVE he is living in Redcar, Yorkshire where his birthplace is recorded as Barwell Tyneside Northumberland.

I THINK he died in Guisborough District, Yorkshire in 1908 aged 74.

Does this help?

Thanks MarieCeleste. I know familysearch has changed but I am having difficulty finding the baptism shown here.

And can I ask if that William shown in the baptism appears in the 1851?

Thanks again.

I got the above baptism from the FreeReg website...the website is still work in progress and doesn't cover all parishes in all the counties yet. But sometimes it can throw up some real little gems! Hope this helps..... :-)

Oh wow - didnt know about that site.

London Belle, so it is fair to say that the above William does not appear on the 1851?

Thanks again.
