Birth Certificate Copies - Ireland

Hi All,
Does anyone know how to get copies of Irish birth certificates? Or if it is even possible?
Why is irish geneology so hard :-(

Amy, I have ordered certificates from the GROIRE with no problems. I think you can get photocopies of the register cheaper (about 4 euros).

Depending on which years you require, it may be possible to get the volume and page number from the familysearch site..

I'm struggling because whilst I know the birth date and name, I don't know the mothers maiden name, or the town of birth. I'm also sure there will be 1,000's of John Doyle's born in Ireland!
Any advise?

If John is deceased, do you want to say how you got back to him and tell us what information you have? Perhaps with some help it may be possible to narrow the search.

There are quite a few helpers on here with a good knowledge of Irish research so if you put Ireland in your thread title some of them will spot it and offer help.

John was born 14 July 1895 in Ireland, died 1954 in Croydon. His middle name is Thomas, after his dad.
That's all i know.....not much to go on.
Changing title now........
