thanks all, yes, you probably right, death certificates may help. I cant find a richard being born to a sampson and elizabeth anyway. On all the census and even on richards marriage listing in 1828 it says born breage. Is grade next to or near breage then?? I considered helston. but i wonder if they were catholics or non conformist . because then i suppose they would baptise in their own denomination. ? :-S

I think the only thing you can do is buy the death certificates to check the informant?

Hi gins
Thanks for that. Yes, the second one, living with fanny(frances) is the correct one. But i am not sure if the dance family person has the correct richard hocking . yes, mine married frances bluett/blewitt tremelling but the richard who married prudence had a son who married mary mitchell, so think they are getting mixed up. I have been told, but shown no proof as yet, that my richard born 1802 was child of sampson hocking and elizabeth nee bennett. Supposedly born in breage, which is near helston.
I am connected to john hocking, son of richard and frances. Frances dies in cornwall in 1871 then i think they , well two of the brothers richard and john, travelled to burnley via cumberland to work in the mines. Richard was married to Grace ellis and john married catherine thompson. I have all their details but i am stuck with finding proof of richard hocking born around 1802 having parents named sampson and elizabeth .
Its a hard one as there are other richards born around the same time e'g this richard in helston in 1802 with parents richard and prudence. But i have seen this one marrying mary mitchell somehwere and living in maybe lostwithiel or launceston, and i am certain he is not my richard.
:-)
thanks for your help, it is much appreciated.

Hi
I am trying to discover the father of a richard hocking born in breage in cornwall around 1801-1803. He married in st sithy to a frances tremelling (bluett) in 1828 before moving on to uny lelant. He had ten children and i think he died in burnley lancashire in 1880. I am sure somewhere i had found in the past, that he was connected to a samson hocking somehow but now dont remember where i got that idea from. Can anyone help.? as an edit, dont think it could be richard and prudence as this richard married a mary mitchell and my richard xdefinately married frances tremelling in 1828. thanks

hopefully
shirley :-)
