Hi everyone, a marriage cert arrived this morning, it gives the grooms name as John Clarke Ratcliffe age 23 in 1890 Chester/Cheshire area. Making his birth year approx 1867.

His fathers name is John Clarke, Ive looked for a Clarke/Ratcliffe marrige on bmd and cant find one, Ive found a possible birth for John Clarke Ratcliffe but it only says John Ratcliffe. Im at a loss if his mum remarried there should be one, and if his father had died it should say deceased.

Any ideas? many thanks to you all

Might not show father as deceased. Would depend on if the question was asked or not

thanks safc could be them, maybe they married after his birth and then he just added his dads name as a middle name.
would it have made more sense to make it as a last name, but who knows?

leesle

leesle Report 8 Oct 2012 13:54
