Good Morning! I wonder if anyone can help me with a passenger check please. I believe that my Grandmother Ethel Marena French (nee Stevens),born 1903, Islington, London, went to Canada approx 1928 and returned by 1931. She lived in Battle, Sussex at the time so it is possible that she sailed from Southampton to Quebec. She may have been travelling with a man with the surname of 'Holmes'. Many thanks. |

Ahh - I see from her marriage in 1923 that it would have been 'French' ! |

I'm sorry - I can see no outgoing or incoming travel records for her at all under the name French! |

Hi, her legal surname at the time would have been French but she had just ru away from her husband and as I have found out from other research, she wasn't averse to telling a 'little white lie' sometimes! (bless her!). |

Hi Dea, I have been trying to trace my Grandmother's whereabouts between 1928 and 1931 with no luck but was recently contacted by a distant relative of he husband Ernest George French, whosaid he remembers that she went to Canada with a Canadian soldier. I know she was back in England by October 1931 because my Mum was born then in London. Obviously, I hav no proof that she did go but it's theonly piece of iformation I have. A friend who was helping me said she saw an entry on a pssenger list for an E M Fench but couldn't access it to confirm if it was correct. |

I have checked all the entries with initial E or E M, etc. but they do not appear to be her! |

If you know where she lived in 1931 - you could try contacting the library local to that area to see if she was on the electoral roll for the same address the previous year ? |
