Hi,
My above unknown half-brother was born 6 Nov 1923 Romford, Essex & died 2 Jun 1976 Chadwell Heath, Romford, Essex. When he married Iris Lilian Grace Potter on 30 Nov 1948 in Forest Gate, West Ham he was a Draughtsman. When he died was a Planning Engineer (assume County Council?) Please note I have all the usual birth, marriage and death certificates for him.

On Ancestry I've found a U.S. WW2 Army Enlistment records 1938-1946 for a Douglas F Hinman of New York. I assume this may have just a coincidence and probably relates to an American of the same name, but I'd like to make sure just in case he was in USA then. Does anyone have access to those USA Army records and could check this out for me please and let me know if there is any possible connection?

As it is less than 100 years, the Essex County Council would not release any information about him, even if he did work in their planning department, as a member of their staff. If anyone has any other ideas about where to trace a Planning Engineer who worked in Essex (England) please advise.

Thanks,
George
