I'd seen the 1861 census and wondered if this was my Emma, born @ Buchfastleigh. I now note that brother Henry/Harry fits in, datewise, so maybe I can add to my refs.?
Thanks for Edwin's death details, his age appears to tally with the 1851 &61 census.
I agree that we're looking at William Richard Batten. William's father was Richard.
Jessie's baptism also fits the dates.

I have found several Emma Murch, in Devon, in various searches and am trying to identify which one is my ancestor. It seems safe to assume that she married William Batten in 1866 at Plymouth, as I have a line from him. I cannot find her in any census previous to her marriage so am unable to identify her parents.

Can anyone please throw any light on Emmna and her family? Yes, I know I can get her marriage cert. but am trying to keep down the expenses. (Scrooge).
