I suspect she is a relation of mine but the age does not quite match up.

I can't find after this, but the the fact one of her daughters was born in Scarborough, and the fact the above death was registered there made me think she may have returned. Does that make sence?

Yes that is her in 1881 - do you have her in 1891?! I don't yet!

Thank you - again, birth place is WRONG but from 1871 we know her daughter was born in Hull. And in fact, according to my note, Lavinia was baptised in St Margaret's, York in June 1834. So confusing!

I am thinking to maybe spot more. Can I have a look-up for this ladies son, Zachariah Swales, born 1856 in Stokesley, Yorkshire. I only have his birth from the 1861 so know nothing else about him.

I have a Zachariah Swales born 1856 in Stokesley but mine died in 1867 in Preston . Not sure it's the same one.

I am related to all of those people. But yes, My Zachariah is the son of John Swales (1832-1877) and Lavinia (born 1834).

A different Zachariah married Sarah Ann Pattison. But he is a relative also.

I have a lot of Swales in my tree going back to 1770 but still sorting them out. They were Hawkers and travellers and tended to intermarry with other travelling families. A lot of the names are the same in all families.

My direct line of Swales came from Dent in Yorkshire but appear on censuses with cousins and nieces and in-laws born in Durham.

I have 2 Lavinia Swales (from different families) but they both died as infants.
Unravelling them is a nightmare.
