Hi

Could anyone offer me advice on how to trace Irish ancestors please?

My Great Grandfather Thomas Rogers was born in Cork in 1848. He married Ann Sophia Foster (1852) in 1882 in Hull, England. They had 4 children, Thomas (1882), Dennis (1886), Margaret (1887) and Florence (1888).

I can find no information on my Great Grandfather prior to him marring my Great Grandmother and I can only assume it is due to his Irish roots. Can anyone advise?

Melanie....The Marriage Cert for Thomas would give his fathers name...
Are you looking for RC/COI records..?

This is the only Thomas Rogers showing for the Co Cork but date is 1841....10th January...RC Baptism

Hi

This is the only information I have from the 1891 census-

ROGERS, Thomas Head Married M 43 1848 Coal Labourer
Cork Ireland.

I will buy the marriage certificate for confirmation.

Have been trying to find the marriage and the transcription has Ann Sophia FOOT not Foster..Reg.Hull Sept.Quarter 1882.....

Where did you find the Rogers initially....?
Was it Hull 1881/1891...

Sorry I have confused matters, Ann's maiden name is Foster but she was previously married to Nicholas Foot with whom she had two children James 1872 and Alice 1876.
