Nigel Report 2 Oct 2012 11:16

William Jones, born in 1849, Thornton - le - moor, Ince Cheshire, disappeared in 1891 census.
The 1881 Census: shows - William Jones (31) Labourer and wife Mary Jones (nee Thomas)(35) - born in Rhosllanerchgrugog, Denbighshire, Margaret Jones (11), Joseph (8), John (6), Mary (4), Hannah (1) were all resident at the Cottage Ince, the grounds of Ince Hall Cheshire.

1891 Census - I cannot find any of them.

1901 - William Jones ( now 54) , a dock labourer born in Ince, Cheshire, (and now a widower) turns up resident at 12 Landseeer St, Salford living with his son John Jones (26) Steam Crane Driver - born Ince, Cheshire.

Can anybody help me trace where William Jones was in 1891?

Thank you - Nigel Horrocks

Why couldn't I get that information? I have searched the 1891 Census so many times?
What criteria did you input?

Thanks anyway - I will now have a go again through Genes Reunited to see if I can get to the actual Census document.

Really helpful - thank you both - a mystery solved.

I can only put it down to 'input error by me!

I have tried again through the Genes reunited search engine and I still cannot find either William or Hannah - in 1891!

Any tips?

Nigel - under GR's main 1891 search box, there's a search by census ref link.

Here you have been given the needed info:
Piece: 2868
Folio: 19
Page Number: 11

and that will get you all the names on the page - it would be up to you to guess William Jones has been transcribed as William Jons (twice) rather than William Johnson.
