The above is my 3 x great grandfather married to Ann Walton. I have found him in Gores Directory of Liverpool 1827, living at 29, Scotland Road and I am trying to find out who his parents are and what they did for a living. |

No idea - he might have moved up from the west Country branch I mentioned before. They were all agricultural based around Gloucester as far as I have discovered. I never knew there were so many James's at the time, as the name has now died out in my family as far as I am aware. Too many girls born I,m afraid! |

baptism record for one of John and Ann's children is same as the baptism that I found earlier, so could be correct? |

Ye gods! They must have been very young parents! I have discovered a lot about John Walton James and Eliza Christopher. It's going back that's giving me a problem. I find it hard to understand how the original John James became a watchmaker - he would have had to be apprenticed, and probably start as a finisher before he could call himself a watchmaker, which would have taken at least 7 years by my reckoning - what are your thoughts? |
