i am trying to find out my grandfathers brothers names but not sure how to go about it, all i know about is family is:
my grandfathers name: alfred jones
born in: birkenhead
year:1921

his mother was: catherine anderson/ holbrook
fathers name: Richard Jones

2 of his brothers were:
Ernest Jones
Leslie Jones

Researching:
Cavell, James, Crates, Finegan, Stanley, baker

Find Alfreds birth on FreeBMD and note the surnames , then look for other births with the same surname combination for the sanme area

For example, if you enter Leslie Jones, MMN Holbrook, this turns up:

Births Sep 1915 (>99%)
Jones Leslie Holbrook Birkenhead 8a 858

You can repeat this missing out first name and all Jones with mother Holbrook will be shown.
