they no longer carry out searches they now do a search & print based on specific dates & for this the cost is £5 for up to 4 copies plus p+p
if you go to the d f h s website there is a research section called tree house based in exeter they carry out searches in the devon areas
the cost is £10 for 60 mins

I wanted a search at thr Devon records office last year - baptisms in Torrington - but when I contacted them I was informed that I would have to visit in person! Maybe I cught them on a bad day?

No.

Widworthy is covered rather well on IGI, going back to the early 1600s which makes me think they weren't married there and you'll need to look further afield.

This may be where you need to look at other parish records. The minute books for example will often be a fund of info. They should be at Devon Record Office.

all i found now on d f h s web is parishes from later years
so to reiterrate im searching devon parishes early 1700 to 1812
any info appreciated
