	I wonder if it was a spelling error on his marriage certificate? Or just simply a change in the way he spelt his name?

	Do you have his marriage certificate for 1919? If you do.... Can you please give us his father's name and occupation. Likewise the name of his wife, marital status, her father and his occupation. Names of the witnesses may also come in handy! Chris

	Can't find a birth in that name at that time. Is it possible that he was born before his parent's marriage and was registered in his mother's maiden name? Kath. x

Member Since: June 2008 Posts: 15 Send Message	I am trying to trace the ancestors of my maternal grandfather supposedly born in PORTFIELD SUSSEX O2 FEB 1892. The NATIONAL RECORDS cannot find any record of him being born . any help would be appreciated. he was married under that name in 1919 ,and won 3 medals in WW1 in that name. He died 01 sept 1974
