I wonder if it was a spelling error on his marriage certificate? Or just simply a change in the way he spelt his name? |

Can't find a birth in that name at that time. Is it possible that he was born before his parent's marriage and was registered in his mother's maiden name? |

I am trying to trace the ancestors of my maternal grandfather supposedly born in PORTFIELD SUSSEX O2 FEB 1892. The NATIONAL RECORDS cannot find any record of him being born . any help would be appreciated. he was married under that name in 1919 ,and won 3 medals in WW1 in that name. He died 01 sept 1974 |
