I understand that my grandfather, William Chatten Crawford of York born 1896ish had an illegitimate daughter with an unknown mother whilst attending a railway convalescent home in Dawlish, Devon, possible around 1931. If anyone has a relation with a father of that name, my 90 year old mother would be very interested to have more information. Thanks for your time.

There are a few trees on ancestry with him in, one has him married twice with 4 children from his last marriage.
I'm afraid none of them have any mention of another daughter.

Unless the man attended when the child's birth was registered, and agreed for his his name to be on the birth cert, it won't be possible to identify the child

Hello Christopher and welcome to the Community boards.

It may be worth putting your grandfather's details into the Search all Trees box (under Search above right). It seems as though several other members of this site have him in their tree. You have the option to contact the tree owners for any further information. Cx
