If the birth was before about 1950, look for it on freebmd

If the birth was after 1911, the MMN will be on the index, so look for one with info which matches your father's birth details

To view the cert, you will have to purchase it

Hello Keith and welcome to the boards.

You can purchase birth certificates online from the GRO

www.gro.gov.uk/

You can also see if anyone on this site has your father in their tree by putting his details into the Search all Trees box - click on Search, above, right.

Even though he was fostered out he must have kept his birth name? he would know his birth date too so you can look for him on FreeBMD
