Hi Maureen

You might learn who the passenger was travelling with, travelling from and where to, age, occupation, and name of ship...etc etc.

If you would like to post the info, we can see what come's up for you.

Prickles.

The info varies greatly - in general, there's more info on passengers entering than those leaving. However, knowing where within the foreign country they lived can be very useful as many countries don't have national BMD records, but they're maintained at a lower level (e.g., states in US/Oz, provinces in Canada, countries in UK).

I just posted this 1905 Liverpool --> Montreal example for another thread:

I would follow PH's advice and post your people on here and see what turns up - it's a shame to waste money on the wrong John Smith or whoever.

Hi Prickles,

My birth mother moved to South Africa around 1950 and I wondered if her husband
who was my father moved with her at the same time.

I do know they both lived in Cape Town just wondered about the date of leaving England.

They are now both deceased.

Kathleen Richards born 1916.
Richard Henry Richards 1893.

I was given up for adoption when I was two years old.

I have found through searching a lot of information and have had a lot of help only this Monday I found I had a brother who was also adopted out he was born two years before me in 1941.

Many thanks to you all for the info. Maureen.

Hi Chris,

Oh my goodness.

Thank you so much for the info when I was about 11 years old visitors came to my adoptive parents home from abroad I was told some fairy story to who they were.

But I was very drawn to the man and the info you have given has confirmed what I always thought they were my natural parents.

I do know my father died in cape in 1971 and my Mother returned to England.

Also it is my Father that went out to Bombay the other info you sent has confirmed this for me.

Many, many thanks, Maureen.
