Hi Looking for information about Gertrude Walker. The only information that I have is that she married Samuel Crich Hawley in 1915 at Barton upon Irwell Lancashire. They had 4 children Doris, Minnie, Elizabeth and Kenneth James (my father). I know that she died in the Southsea/Portsmouth area. I was told by my mother that my great grandmother died in child birth and that my grandmother was brought up by relatives but this could be untrue. Would greatly appreciate any information on Gertrude´s parents.

These are not definates but all the children have the mothers maiden name of Walker. Or do you already know these births?

Thanks for the quick responses. Yes the info about Samuel, Doris and Minnie is correct. Samuel and Gertrude were in Wakefield before they went south to Portsmouth. I think I´ll have to get a copy of the marriage cert. Got info on the Hawley side going back to early-mid 1800´s. It´s just the Walkers I´m struggling with.

Not sure how to do that but if you go to my account and your details you must have a bloke on there somewhere and you should make living relies private.

Mel - saw that census and thought the same as you. Lynne, do you have the marriage certificate? As well as father's details it will give you her age.

Re tree access on Ancestry. There are two options open to you - you either make your tree a public tree rather than a private one or, you invite someone to your private tree. Either way, you should hide living relatives.

If she was brought up by relatives if the assumption about her Mother is correct, then we are looking for a Gertrude Walker not living with parents....
So the marriage certificate is essential for full details.

spoken to my mother again and she seems to remeber that Gertrude died in Suffolk whilst visiting her daughter Doris. so just searched deaths and found a Gertrude Hawley dying in Suffolk

This is a Gertrude Molyneux Walker and that must have been her mothers maiden name as on the 1911 William has his mother in law living with him.
