as always a great result thanks.
sorry Gins your info. must have got lost somwhere in the ether I have deinitely not already got it in my file . as all that side of the family are from the Merseyside area I would have been paricularly interested in the birth being in Lowestoff. he must have met his wife (her second marriage) when on shore leave in Liverpool. she was a drapers shop assistant when married but became a stewardess on the Cunard Line.
But thanks anyway and if I upset you then I really am very sorry.

sorry, you have me stumped Gins. I do not remember ever posting about Charles Ernest before. I only learned today that he died as a result of a torpedo. I have looked for several years for information about that side of my family but as far as I am concerned he was not my immediate subject. you mayr emember me looking for John Michael Davies who was his step son. I found JMD's daughter today and she told me of the possible circumsatnces of CES death. the family did not know of his marriage thinking his partner when he died was not married to him, but I had a marriage cert..
and I have always made great effort to thank successful searches by you wonderful people and if you gave me someting I did not acknowledge them I am extremely sorry.

The marriage cert I have says he was 33 years in 1939 and he was married in Wallasey, employed as a ships chef (merchant service)

good evening all. Looking for the record of the death of Charles Ernest Steward, who was a ships chef immediately prior to WWII. I believe he may have died as a result of being torpedoed. So his death must have been in the war years but I do not know wheere to look. Was it a Merchant Navy death?
